  Thermal printer benefits

Much Faster Print Speeds
The suggested thermal upgrade in our list is typically 20 to 30 times faster than the old impact printer and at least 10 to 20 times faster than the current impact model which replaces it.

Reliability
Fewer moving parts and lower maintenance.

Quiet operation
Thermal printers use heat to create the image on the page. A Dot matrix print head uses a pin which strikes a ribbon like the old type writer, thereby making an ink or carbon imprint on the page. This process is slow and noisey.

Better Graphics
Faster and more detailed graphic logos can be stored in the printer memory.

Running Costs
Thermal paper is thinner than bond and more common in today's marketplace. A typical 80mm thermal paper roll is up to four (4) times longer than a dual ply 76mm carbonless roll. It is twice the length of a typical single copy bond paper roll. Thermal paper is coated with a special invisible ink and also a clear developer. When heated the two combine to produce an image. Long storey short - no ribbon required in thermal printers. The paper is the only consumable and it lasts up to 4 times longer for about the same cost per roll.

Easy Paper Load
Lift the lid and drop the paper roll into the container. Simple!

Smaller footprint
Since thermal printers have fewer moving parts the size of the printer is almost always smaller than your impact receipt printer.

Cuts the paper
Most thermal printers come standard with an automatic cutter, designed to cut your receipt when the print job is completed. If you need to print a duplicate receipt, you still can with a thermal printer - just set the software to print a second copy. A thermal printer will effortlessly print and cut two copies before an impact printer gets half way through the first copy.
